Our Mission

The Capital District Arts Initiative is an all-inclusive movement promoting and giving space for local performing artists to collaborate and bring a more impactful, sustainable arts community in the Capital Region. Our goal is to provide access and advocacy for arts empowerment at the educational, community, pre-professional, and professional levels. 

The Arts Initiative is for anyone with creative curiosities that they want to explore in whatever capacity they see fit for their lives. From artists with professional performance ambitions to those who just want to explore their creativity and artistry as a way to enrich their everyday lives, the CDAI has space and opportunities for all. Whether an audience member, a student, or a creative leader… we feel that everyone should have access to the highest quality of creative freedom and artistic performance! Arts education is the way in which we hope to motivate the future for the arts and the School at CDAI is where you can come and study, participate in weekly classes, special workshops, and performance opportunities that will help you develop your craft. 

We believe that there is already wonderful arts education and community activity in the Capital Region.  We hope to motivate more interdisciplinary collaboration, provide more versatility in our training program, increase accessibility and visibility, and refresh people's experience of what the performing arts can do in terms of its direct impact on the community. Where there is collaboration and mutually supportive efforts, there is invention and expansion. 

The Capital District Arts Initiative is proud to host a locally sourced faculty and team of employees that have all been enmeshed in the local community but have also gone on to explore international careers in the performing arts. We are happy to be bringing our experience in the international industry directly to the Capital Region's community development. We believe that having access to the arts is a necessity in furthering community diversity, cooperation, and collaboration- three key ingredients for personal and communal progress and growth. 

Everybody has creative expression inside of them, even if undiscovered. The Capital District Arts Initiative is providing a space for everyone to experience the immense value and liberation that is uniquely motivated through creative expression. Artistry can enrich your personal life and in doing so, will enrich the life of the community at large. 

Founded by an Albany Native sister/brother team, the CDAI is devoted to seeing our hometown’s continued prosperity through arts enrichment.
