Get in, losers—we’re going to the theatre! The Capital District Arts Initiative is thrilled to announce our 2026 production of Mean Girls: High School Edition, a fiercely funny musical based on the hit Broadway show and iconic film. Packed with high-energy dance numbers, sharp wit, and unforgettable characters, this production follows Cady Heron as she navigates the wild world of North Shore High and discovers just how far kindness—and confidence—can go.

Full of heart, humor, and spectacular musical moments, Mean Girls: High School Edition celebrates the power of finding your voice and standing up for what’s right. With a talented cast of young performers bringing the beloved story to life, this production promises an empowering and wildly entertaining experience for audiences of all ages.

With Creative Direction by Corey John Snide, Director Sammy Wilson, Musical Director Nick Contois and Principal Vocal Coach Lisa Franklin, this is sure to be a theatrical education experience like no other! Actors participating in the musical can add a 6-class Package with our theatre training program and performance company THE ENSEMBLE!

Mean Girls is presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI). All authorized performance materials are also supplied by MTI.

Audition Details!

Where: CDAI Studios— 767 Troy-Schenectady Road, Suite 4 Latham, NY 12110

When: Tuesday, December 2nd, 2025 from 630-830pm.

CALLBACKS: Thursday, December 4th, 2025 from 630-830pm.

Please prepare a 16-32 bar cut of an upbeat musical theatre/pop song. You may sing from the show if you would like to but we encourage your young artist to pick a song that showcase their personality and character. We will hand out SIDES (audition script) to be performed at callbacks as needed. Even if you don’t receive sides, everyone is being considered for Principal and Featured Ensemble Roles in this show.

Rehearsals and Performance Details!

REHEARSALS: Starting Jan 6th, 2026.. rehearsals will be every Thursday from 630 - 830 until and including February 10th. Then there is MANDATORY rehearsal week from 10-4 during February Break (2/16 - 2/20). There will be two more Run Through Rehearsals on Thursday 2/26 and 3/5. All of these rehearsals will be held at CDAI Studios in Latham where you auditioned.

TECH: March 9th - 13th at Russel Sage’s SCHACT Theatre from 5pm - 9pm. Please note: Tech week is a strict No-Conflict policy unless pre-approved by the production team.

SCHACT FINE ARTS: 10 Division Street, Troy, NY 12180

SHOWS: March 14th at 2pm and 7pm and March 15th at 12pm and 5pm.
